Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Davis public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Floodplain Mapping and Stormwater Planning
Commissioners and residents agree Davis lacks accurate flood maps, and a comprehensive stormwater plan with funding is seen as the make-or-break issue for any development in north and west Davis.
Wastewater Capacity Charges
The city updated its wastewater capacity fees for the first time since 2013, raising single-family residential fees to help fund infrastructure growth and comply with strict state environmental regulations.
Solid Waste Hauling Franchise Procurement
The city is raising trash and recycling utility rates to keep the solid waste fund from going broke as costs for labor, materials, and state rules go up. Residents pushed back during the public hearing, questioning why rates are climbing and asking if the city should put the waste hauling contract out for competitive bidding.
